just made a journal to keep track of baby stories, photos, etc: [info]tristan09
i won't delete [info]bbchronicles but i figured now that he's here and named, he might as well have a more personal space. :)

can't believe he turned 10 weeks old yesterday! the time is seriously flying by. i've been working from home for 2 weeks (going in one day a week to get things done that i can't do here) and i have another 2 weeks before i have to go back into the office full time. i'm going to miss spending my days with the little man. he's really excellent company, especially now that he smiles and laughs and generally interacts more.

he's very strong, inquisitive, bright, and overall happy (although he has his moments of Pure Baby Rage, haha). he says Goo, Ah-goo, Ah-gee, Ah-buh, Blih, Doo, and he hollers GIHHH when he's angry. he thinks pattycake is super hilarious. he will sit up if you prop him against something and he really enjoys being upright, held against your shoulder for instance instead of being cradled in your arms.

i'm very tired. it's hard to cater to the baby's schedule and put in 40 hours of work, but it's so rewarding that i don't begrudge him a minute of the lost sleep. i love holding him close and feeding him no matter what time of day or night it is. i even like changing diapers, since it's something that makes him feel better.

for your enjoyment, a couple of pictures of my smooshykins:

okay guys, anyone good with dividing up an image using image map coordinates? my sleep-deprived brain is not processing this and i'm just frustrating myself. i've got an image for work that i need to divide up so individual sections are separately clickable. looking at the coordinates in Photoshop or whatever doesn't yield the correct results for the ticketing system. sigh.

There are no words to describe how much i love my son. He is the coolest person ever. Update someday, maybe, when i get a few moments that aren't taken up by baby or photo editing, haha.

Fear my photoshop tutorial-following skills!!!

Can't believe my beautiful baby boy will be three weeks old tomorrow! Seems like he just got here. :)

Here he is at two weeks:

And here we are on Saturday, waiting for Jeremy's car to have its oil changed:

He hasn't had any formula since those first couple of days, but we're still having trouble nursing so for now i'm pumping and he's being bottle-fed. The nice thing is that his daddy can feed him too, but it will be so much easier when we can get nursing all straightened out! Other than that, he seems to be doing great. He's got his next checkup on the 28th.

I really can't express how much love overflows from me for this little person. He is so awesome, he has such a great personality and is so hilarious and sweet and fun. It's been super hard at times but i wouldn't trade this experience for anything. I love my family with all my heart.

Tristan!

Tristan James made his way into the world on June 23, 2009 at 1:58 p.m. He was 9 pounds 2 ounces and 22 inches long. He is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my life.

I would like to shake the hand of the inventor of the ice cream sammich. Honorable mention to the inventor of the ice cream bar.

The Wonderful World of Pregnancy Ankle and Foot Swelling, is - surprise!- not so wonderful. Who knew? Never before have i looked down and wondered whose feet were on the ends of my legs.

My belly button is getting weird. I've been fiendishly denying that it could ever pop out because it's so deep, but i may be treated to a rude awakening before this kid arrives. I don't waaaaaaant it to pop out, that's so gross, but then again I didn't waaaaaaant to throw up for 16 weeks straight either and look where that got me.

Dooce.com is awesome. Beware: if you do not like swear words or extensive (though jocular) heresy or sarcasm or poop stories, don't click. I've been working my way through the archives for quite a while and i'll be sad when i get to the end and have to wait for updates.

This weekend we're sending off a funny, kind, capable girl to start her life in the Real Adult World all the way on the other side of the country. She started out as my employee and ended up as a good friend. I'll miss you, Caitlyn.

We have a preponderance of ice cream trucks in our neighborhood. There's one that comes by very regularly. It plays the ice-cream-truck version of Oh Susanna, only it's sort of digital sounding, interspersed with fake claps and what i can only assume is supposed to be a cheer or a siren sound? Problem is, the cheer/siren/whatever sounds exactly like a dinosaur roar straight from Jurassic Park.

So it goes a little something like this, words added so you know which part of the song i'm talking about:

I come from Alabama with my banjo on my knee [clap clap]
I'm going to Louisiana, my true love for to see [graAAAAAEEEEAAAAAAaaaar]

I call it the Pterodactyl Truck. If i were a kid, there's NO WAY i'd be heading out of the house when i heard that thing!

These are from the 23rd. Nugget is measuring almost a week ahead at this point; i'm hoping it's just a long baby and not a big ol' porker of a child. :P

Baby is 7.48 cm crown to rump!

Baby is comfy! The ultrasound tech had to poke and prod mightily to get the nugget to roll into the proper nuchal-fold-measuring position.

if you enjoy not having a tummyache, DO NOT absentmindedly eat a large quantity of creme de menthe Altoids in one sitting.

this public service announcement is brought to you by the letter :(.
